SMT, FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE

Our company was founded in Istanbul in 1974 to produce OPAŞ Automotive ignition systems. The company got the license of German DODUCO, a leading company in ignition systems, in 1981 and started to provide manufacturing, sales and after-sales services in international standards.

OPAŞ introduced the PVD coating system for the first time in Turkey In 1996. Siemens - Interatom company's coating plant is one of the best coating plants in Turkey today.

The use of CNC machines in the industry has become widespread since 2003. SMT started to produce cutting tools under the brand name of “Sert Metal Takımlar” (Hard Metal Sets) after the approval of Research & Development project of Directorate of Technology Monitoring and Evaluation (TIDEB AR-GE).

Our company has been manufacturing Carbide Drill Bits, Milling and Reamers since starting the production of carbide cutting sets in 2004. The tool sets are designed by using CAD software and production is made by using 5-axis CNC machines. The dimensional characteristics of the sets are reported after being surveyed by using 4-axis high precision measurement machine.

Our company left OPAŞ in 2012, and has been manufacturing under the name of SMT KARBÜR KESİCİ TAKIMLAR SAN. VE TİC. AŞ. (SMT CARBIDE CUTTING TOOLS INDUSTRIAL AND TRADE INC) since then.
